Ross Annual MLK Event: The Intersection of Racial and Environmental Justice: How business leaders can shape an equitable future

The Michigan Ross Dean’s Office, The Ross Office of DEI, and Ross Events invite all members of the University of Michigan Community to participate in Michigan Ross’ MLK Event on January 31 at 2:30 pm in the Michigan Ross Robertson Auditorium. A meal will be served immediately following the panel discussion.

This year we gather to deepen our understanding of the intersection of Racial Equity and Climate Justice through a panel discussion of three leaders in this space. The panel will feature:

Dr. Farhana Sultana 
Dr. Sultana is a Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University, where she is also the Research Director for Environmental Collaboration and Conflicts at the Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflicts and Collaboration (PARCC). She is an internationally recognized and award-winning interdisciplinary scholar, speaker, and author on topics such as climate justice, water security, and sustainable development, with a background of working in the United Nations.
 
Dr. Christian V. Braneon 
Dr. Braneon is Head of Climate Justice at Carbon Direct and has academic affiliations at the City University of New York as well as Columbia University Climate School. His work on urban heat and climate change has been featured in broadcast and print media outlets such as CNN, CNBC, and Science. Dr. Braneon received an AXA Award for Climate Science in 2021.
 
Chante Harris 
Chante is a champion of social and financial innovation. Throughout her career. she has successfully scaled nationwide campaigns, technologies, and ideas for the Obama Administration, Fortune 500 companies, and startups. Her writing and work have been featured in Axios, ImpactAlpha, Business Insider, and The Milken Institute.
